The holy man

Once upon a time in Varanasi, there lived an age-old holy man who was regarded as insane by everyone. This holy man used to beg for food in the village. One fine day, having begged for food in the village, he sat by the roadside and begun to eat. A dog came up and was looking at him hungrily. The old holy man with lots of love and full of affection began to feed the dog. He himself would take a bite, then give a morsel to the dog as though he and the dog were two good old friends. Within no time a crowd gathered around to watch this extraordinary moment.

One of the men in the crowd looking at the holy man sarcastically said to the crowd gathered, “What can we expect from a crazy person who is unable to distinguish between a human and a dog?” The holy man wisely replied, “Can’t you see Vishnu seated with Vishnu? Vishnu is being fed and Vishnu is doing the feeding. So why do you laugh, oh Vishnu?”
