TO MY DEAR GOVERNMENT SERVANTS.
In the conflict between yesterday and tomorrow, most of us spend our today. We work hard today to make our tomorrow brighter by applying yesterday’s experiences (may or may not be ours). A Government employee is made to retire on his 60th year irrespective of his service years. He/she is paid an amount as pension every month as a symbol of respect and appreciation for his service to the society by being a part of the government. When that government employee is in service, to be in that position he/she must have undergone certain exams to get into the government sector or might have a physical or intellectual qualification that is required. That happened because he/she who is PRESENTly a government servant worked hard in the PAST as a teenager. Without studying rightly and maintaining good physical and mental health in the PAST, it wouldn’t be possible for him/her to be who he/she is PRESENT. No doubt as a government servant his/her first intention is to serve and to bring progress in the society. Further note to forget, the second intention would be about the “FUTURE". It may be the future of his/her son's/daughter's future (concerning professional life as well as personal life) and the future with his/her life partner. Ultimately it’s all about his/her very own “FUTURE”. At the end of the day, every common man hopes and works for a secured future, for which he/she may/should take up the risk TODAY.
Once when we make sure that our "FUTURE" is secured as chances of passing of a student who has scored 35 out of 100, which is exactly the passing marks, few of us stop taking "RISK" and shift to a "RELAXED" working mood. Whereas many of us continue taking “RISKS” to have a first-class future just like the student doubles 35 to achieve first class, which is absolutely safe and also appreciable. But only a very few of us along with taking risks, along with working hard, work extra instead of spending the time we INVEST quality time to make our future bright as similar to an attentive students future, who works hard, who did late-night studies without wasting his/her time.
Now when the future comes in the form of Retirement one should happily welcome it and start relaxing. Instead, there is no logic in rejecting the concept of retirement and restarting work. And there are few legends (#nooffence) who does “HARD WORK” and ultra legends taking “RISKS”. If it is necessary for your survival, it’s absolutely fine. It's Karmapala, you have to pass through it. And if you are taking certain risks, putting all your best efforts in a particular field say business or agriculture or whatever it may be, if it is your PASSION, please go ahead. But if it is to make your further future brighter, then please mark my words, "You have no future left." If you are performing such stunts (in my point of view) to make sure that your next-generation/generations future will have safe and brighter future, I appreciate your act and encourage the same if and only if your next generation is either physically or mentally challenged. If you are sure that one or the other day your healthy son/daughter is going to become handicapped and even they reproduce a physically or mentally ill generation then you are on the right path, spending all your time and energy for yourself for some years, for your next generation, and finally for your 3rd generation for the rest of your LIFE.
I find no meaningful point in their two actions. First is the very own thought of assuming their upcoming generations will either be physically or mentally challenged. Secondly for putting such an enormous amount of precious energy i.e. their whole life in making their upcoming generation’s future safe and bright.
Remember, we Indians are on the progress path in all aspects. Hope for the best. I’m sure one day we will have a Polio-free India. We are celebrating yoga and meditation, showing the whole world the path of self-realization. At least with these points as reference hope for a healthy and fit upcoming generation. When the next generations are fit and healthy, there is no point and need for you to work hard for their “FUTURE”. Let them earn their own piece of bread and living. Let them work for their future. You work for your future. Once when you are done with future arrangements, LIVE THE MOMENT. When the future arrives i.e. your RETIREMENT, gently greet it by showing gratitude to all your colleague friends, to the system and the society. Thank the government for giving such a wonderful opportunity for serving society by being a part of the government. Also, thank your family for their huge and long run support. Above all, surrender yourself to Paramathama, for everything he has given to you.
Proudly withdraw your monthly pension. Spend the same on yourself. Have fun. Enjoy your retired life. Spend quality time with your family, I repeat with your very own family. Meet your friends, hang out with them. Go for a trip. Do enjoy literature. WE ALL LOVE YOU.
Yours Lovingly,
Mahesh Jogi
